Do you think your leaving makes it easier for others to leave, too?
by dgp ini am not trying to minimize the pain and difficulties of leaving the scam (being fortunate never to have belonged to it, in the first place), but i would like to ask people a question.
have you thought that, if you leave, your friends and family have someone out there who really understands them and could be there for you?.
on the one hand, your family and friends will shun you, that's for sure.

I very much do. Perhaps because that has been my path, and I want it to count for something. Yes, I think it is trailblazing to leave and let the others follow out with some support and an example...

Documented transition from being an elder to becoming a free man
by TastingFreedom init has been a year since i stopped attending meetings with the jehovah's witnesses.
as one year anniversary has passed, i thought it would be helpful to highlight some of the main events during this transition.
it may help others that are going through the same experience.

I think so...Mind You, I also respect a difference between spirituality and religion. To me, spirituality is a journey and is personal. I am never hurt by spiritual growth or change.
Religion is to my mind dominated. I will not be dominated.... It would hurt me and make me sick to be dominated by religion. Does that make sense?

by elderelite inthese moments are something that not eveyone has experianced, but if you have they are with you every day.
a true moment of clarity is not something you live once.

Thank You E for this post. Wow.. I had to think on it for a minute, isn't that sad? What I have is this.... I was in a LONG Long long....dwindling relationship.
I didn't even know who I was. I had no life....I had a moment of clarity while sitting under the stars one night... That it was MY TURN. That time was wasting and it was finally MY TURN!!! I had never been selfish, was always somebody elses somebody (if that makes any sense). It was another abuse against me and I just had had enough. I took control of my life at that moment, and I remember it well.

Children being forced by parents (who were pressured by elders) to perform like marionettes on stage. Then being "graded" on the performance and told there oh indeed would be a next time. I have been one of the wierd ones, and witnessed lots of weird ones. Children running off stage to vomit, chapped bloody lips, stage fright, panic disorders.....Weird that parents would let their children be subjected to scrutiny in that awful way.....
